Make an 5 1/2" tall doll with this KATIE PRESS MOLD + INSTRUCTIONAL CDFOR BEGINNERS!
The Katie mold is a 5 1/2" girl and can be used for a portrait doll, fairy, mermaid or whatever your imagination will create. She is a 2 part press mold used with polymer clay only. There is a 50 page instructional CD (book like pages to print out) also included. I show how to make a doll in polymer clay with the use of a mold called Katie. I press her, pose her, trim and sculpt what is necessary after you press the doll in a mold. Then I fire, paint, costume and wif her. There is also a brief lesson on a teacup fairy that is posed and pictured with this doll in the making of this tutorial.
Porcelain or other liquids cannot be cast in this type of plaster mold. It is made of Hydrastone to last for years. No artist mold is perfect, they are hand made so please do not expect them to be flawless like commercial mass produced porcelain or ceramic molds.
The instructions on how to make her armature and a pattern for her are on my website to print out for free whenever you need one.
No armatures are sent with this mold.
We are always happy to combine S & H on purchases so please check out the items in our store. Always email and ask us to combine purchases on one invoice
before you pay.
Polymer clay is different with every brand and batch that is made.
Sometimes the figure refuses to release from the press mold all in one piece.
My advice is:
Dip the entire mold into cold water for one minute to wet it completely. Remove from the water.
Press your doll into the wet mold. Leave the doll inside the unopened mold and put it in the freezer for about 10 minutes. Remove the mold from the freezer, carefully open the mold and remove your doll but DO NOT try to change her pose for an hour. Let her thaw out so she does not crack when you bend her.
She will sweat off the water and dry out. Now you can play with her!
